How long does it take to get Open Water Diver certified? The course length varies and depends upon your time commitment. The home study portion should take approximately 5-6 hours. That will be followed by one full day in the pool learning dive skills. The final checkout dives take place over a 2 day period at Mammoth Lake in Lake Jackson, TX.
